From a young age Taylor Swift wanted to be an actress but was too scared to get up on stage. That was her challenge. Pretty difficult to be an entertainer if too scared to get up on stage.
Taylor talks about wanting to be an actress and the tremendous challenge of dealing with her fear of the stage.
“I know this may sound stupid but: I’ve always wanted to be an actress, but I was always too scared when I was on stage, I’d just stand there and murmur my lines. And I didn’t like it. At all. But I wanted to. So em, I kinda sat all my teddy bears on my bed, facing me, and practiced in front of them. (I was 9). Then I gradually pushed myself. I went from, talking to my bears to in front of the mirror, to recording myself, to in front of my parents, to in front of my friends, then I had a 1 on 1 with my drama teacher, then I did it in front of my class, then my school. So maybe if you gradually push yourself, you’ll get there.”
She met the challenge head on…did not run from it. Asked for help and accepted it.
That is hard work!
She came up with her own way of meeting her challenge to create the life she wanted.
As time went on she developed more ways to deal with her fear. Taylor talks to herself in the mirror to calm herself down before going on stage. She created her own way of dealing with anxiety. She tells herself that she is ”going to be OK”, over and over again.
“In my opinion, the only way to conquer stage fright is to get up on stage and play. Every time you play another show, it gets better and better.”
Everybody wants their own life and everybody has a challenge to that vision.
Meet the challenge, figure it out and win…
Taylor did…so can YOU!
